*I am very disappointed in the library not making the training room on the ground floor of the library available to the Potch students. There are not enough computers and that research room has been constantly used by students from other universities when it is in actual fact there for the use of the potch students, unless i am mistaken. *The "money box" in the library has been broken for more than a week? This is unacceptable. Not all students' days end at 6:00, if you have to have an assignment printed at 22:00, but there are no credits on your students, there is little to nothing you can do. |

Wat wel 'n frustrasie is, is as sekere ouer uitgawes van tydskrifte nie op ingeteken is nie en dat dit omslagtig is om tuis by tydskrifartikels uit te kom. Ek weet ook byvoorbeeld nie waar om te vra dat daar op die ouer weergawes ingeteken word nie Dit wil voorkom of die biblioteekwebwerf 'n paar keer drasties verander het en dan moet 'n mens weer van vooraf die roetes leer om by die inligting uit te kom. Ek gebruik byvoorbeeld die huidige soekfunksie op die voorblad glad nie aangesien ek selde so bronne kry wat ek wil hê. Dus gaan ek steeds direk na die gewone katalogus en gebruik dan eerder ook databasisse soos SA ePublications of Google Scholar. Hierdie vraelys se eerste deel is gans en al te lank en moeilik om in te vul! good and exceptional. should at least extend the working hours to 24hours during the exams and semester tests. and during weekdays to 23:00 PM. Find more conducive ways of regulating noise on the first floor study section, for instance, imposing noise fines (this can be done by the report noise control by each individual student). Also impose fines for those who takes things not belonging to them and not give such in to the library services for owner's collection (there is theft of USB flesh drives and cellphones, headsets etc). Also impose strict measures to limit the wasteful use of library resources e.g the use of computers to watch Youtube whilst other students wait to use computers for academic purposes. Limit the internet access only to access academic databases and switch off the computer volumes so no sound can transmit with headsets. |

Come on...really??? Where is the option to select Mafikeng on the questionnaire? I were forced to select Potch, due to no option existing for Mafikeng. Are we ONCE AGAIN the "Bush Campus"? I'm getting tired of not getting the same service on all 3 campuses!!!! Mafikeng's Budget for library is a joke and its collection is a joke. Compared to Potch and Vaal, we look like a High School Library with most books dating more than 10-30 years old. Its things like this that relates to striving between campuses and NWU not working as ONE entity like it should! Are the option of Mafikeng PURPOSEFULLY withheld to skew the results and make NWU look better than it really is? Come on, where is the objectivity. Yes, we merged as 2 universities more than 10 years ago, but thats TEN years ago! What has changed since then? We are still functioning as separate entities and not as one as is the drive behind the Executive Committee of NWU. Come on, I'm the BIGGEST supporter of NWU. Ek het eintlik reeds my MSc voltooi, maar tog gevoel ek moet die vraelys in retrospek invul. In al my studentejare was ek baie tevrede met die biblioteke wat ek besoek het op die Potch kampus se diens, veral die personeel. Hulle gaan dikwels uit hul pad uit om studente te help en by te staan met navorsing of die vind van inligting, en leer ook studente die nodige vaardighede om self inligting op te spoor. Die bib kan soms raserig wees, ,maar mens verstaan studente bly maar studente is van nature sosiale wesens. Ek het begin werk voor my MSc klaar was, en het gereeld gebruik gemaak van die biblioteek se aanlyn soekenjins om die nodige bronne te verkry. Ek het ook baie van die elektroniese weergawes van skripsies gebruik gemaak. Ek voel die kampusbiblioteke verskaf die nodige inligting wat studente het tydens voorgraadse en nagraadse studies. Everything about the library is up to standard. The only area in which I find a problem is searching for electronic resources. The web page and search process is very user un-friendly, which is why I prefer to search for resources through Google Scholar. Two other suggestion - Often when the library gives away free books people who would be really interested often miss them. Could the library perhaps have an email list to which users can subscribe so that the library can inform them when free books become available in their fields of study or interest? The library could also send emails to a list of subscribers for any new books that it gets in. Particularly if this can help people to discover something they didn't even know they were looking for. |

As n honneurs student is dit belangrik om toegang te he tot n stil area om te studeer of navorsing te doen. Ek besef dat daar n honneurs studie lokaal is in die bib maar daar is nooit genoeg plek nie. In vergelyking met die aantal honneurs studente wat op kampus is, sal dit meer gerieflik wees om n groter honneurs studie lokaal te kan he wat vir meeste honneurs studente toeganklik is ipv om nie n lokaal te he wat amper nie eers 10% van honneurs studente kan bevat nie. Baie studente "boek" hul plekkie vroeg die oggend en stap weer uit om klas te draf. Ek het genoeg respek vir ander hons studende om hulle hul spasie te gun. Nog n probleem is die rekenaar lokaal op die grondvloer van die bib - die rekenaars kan deur enige iemand gebruik word en dit verstaan ek, maar dan kom ek in die lokaal om vinnig iets te print, maar dan sukkel ek om n rekenaar te kry omdat die rekenaars byvoorbeeld gebruik word om werk op te som vanaf slides af of om te facebook of youtube (n mens kan ook niks daaraan doen nie, want sodra jy by daai persoon kom skakel hulle oor na efundi dat dit lyk asof hulle werk). My voorstel vir daardie spesifieke lab is om facebook en youtube te blok asook basies enige sosiale media. Dit sal ook help as die rekenaar lokaal wat afgeslote is weer beskikbaar gestel word vir alle studente, hoe meer rekenaars beskikbaar is, hoe beter. Ek besef ook dat daar ander lokale ook is, maar dit bied nie noodwending die vinnige diens wat die rekenaar lab op die grondvloer van die bib bied nie en daar is nie dieselfde disipline as in die bib nie - die studente kan raas en niemand is daar om hulle stil te maak nie. Dit bring my na die volgende punt, meer aksie moet geneem word teen studente wat in groepe werk in die rekaanlab op die grondvloer - dit gebeur te gereeld dat die studente harder en harder begin praat en geen aksie word teen dit geneem nie. |

Ek sou graag as nuwe student, 'n "intro" of verwelkomings-pakket ontvang na inskrywing wat my vinnig wys hoe om (on-line) inligting vanaf die bib te bekom. Aangesien ek voltyds werk in en na-uurs studeer, het ek nie tyd om eers te moet probeer uitvind hoe die online bib werk nie (as daar ooit so iets is) My voorstel is, soos genoem, dat na registrasie, elke student 'n kort web-tour "link" in 'n e-pos kry wat binne 10 minute van jou tyd, jou wys waar om hulpbronne te verkry by die bib...eerder as om maar in Google se oe" te kyk vir hulp. As nuwe student by die NWU behoort so inligtings-pakkie, wat binne minute 'n nuweling kan orienteer, werelde se verskil te maak... So inligtings-pakkie kan links bevat na personeel-bekendstelling, waar op kampus die fisiese bib gelee is, hoe maak jy om 'n boek te bekom vir stude wat nie beskikbaar is nie, on-line resources wat die bib bied...enige BASIESE inligting wat dit MAKLIK maak! Die PUK se biblioteekpersoneel is uiters behulpsaam, flink en weet wat aangaan. Ek is ook mal oor Ferdi's in die biblioteek - dit is 'n ekstra aantrekkingskrag wat my dikwels daar laat studeer. Ek sou egter graag 'n uitbreiding van die biblioteek wou sien. Ek het al dikwels boeke op die biblioteek se soekenjins gaan soek, maar kon hul nie vind nie. Somtyds selfs baie bekende boeke, bv. Anne Frank se dagboek, wat slegs in Nederlands in die biblioteek beskikbaar is. |

Using the library services on the internet was great before 2015, after the upgrade of the sevice it is extremely difficult to access any of the journals that were easily accessible before. Libguides is useless now. Using the quick search function also does not work as well as it did before. Staff at the IBL window are rude and unfriendly. It would be nice if they actually stand up and try to help you, not just grumble something you cannot hear and leave you guessing what to do. Wanneer daar af en toe probleme opduik ('n vermiste boek gewoonlik, wat in elk geval nie die biblioteek se skuld is nie) word daar met vriendelikheid gehelp tot 'n ander oplossing. Wat die tegnologie betref sou die beskikbaarheid van meer as slegs twee skandeer-stasies wonderlik wees (en lugverkoeling in die vreeslik bedompige rekenaarlokaal op die grondvloer!). Verder, hoewel ek nie weet of dit die biblioteek se verantwoordelikheid is nie, sal dit help as nuwe boeke vinniger aangeskaf word, terwyl dit juis die relevantste is. Uit ervaring met verskeie ander universiteitsbiblioteke kan ek egter sê dat die FP puik diens lewer – 'n diens waarsonder ek nie een van my vakke kan voltooi nie. |

The computers are never available and one has to wait forever. Most students sit and study as well as chill by the computers and when one just need to quickly print something you have to wait and run out of time and has to leave for class. Time is of the essence and the library can maybe have a "speed"-line of computers limited to 5min per person for the people who want to print stuff. |

Security personnel at the library has a tendency to be rude and/or disrespectful towards students. Most of the other personnel is overall helpful. Navigation and or finding certain information online on the library system can sometimes be a long and complicated process. More stable internet access in the library would help a lot with finding extra information and accessing resources in the library. |

The fact that the library closes at 14h00 on a Saturday is unnecessary, 17h00 would be more appropriate. Being open on Sundays with the current Saturday times would be greatly appreciated. The computers are too slow that the pdf's take up to 5min to open. Too many people who play computer games on the second floor, they use space where I could study and then the performance of the internet drops on my laptop that eFundi wouldn't even open. |

Truly one of the most I'll-equipped libraries I've come across in this country. I don't think any rational person would expect the Potch Campus Library to be on the same level as that of Harvard or Oxford, but considering the similarities in fees and age between, say, Potch and Stellenbosch? UCT? TUKS? OFS? We have a beautiful campus and many inspiring aspects to our campus, but I personally believe our library is an embarrassment (even with the recent renovations.) |

The computers are outdated, which makes them extremely slow! The computers doesn't contain the programs I need for my study, the lecturer will give us a demo program which only allow for 30min use at a time and doesn't allow you to save your work, this takes up 10 times the amount of time you would normally spend on the program. The printers are always broken or out of paper, or the computers doesn't read your memory stick. |

At the moment I am using soneone through my editor to recheck my resources but I am not confident the person always understand NWU citation. More advanced training in Endnotes would also be nice. I have done the basic training and are using Endnote at the moment. Such a big improvement in my research process. Thank you for the great support you provide to us. |

I love Ferdinand Postma library eccept that the printing computers has no become a social computer where people sit and watch YouTube videos, facebook amd do anything else but work and some just leaves their books there and leave for more than an hour an nobody does nothing about i. The computers is limited and the printers in G1 is not printing te same quality as those in the bib!! I also understand that the tarentaal is a teaching room but there are hhours tha passes with mo lecture givem and tthen the tarentaal is stil not available for our students to use and then we all need to fight for a computer with 100 other studen and you wait sometimes an hour for a computer where 100 computers are open but not available for the student body. I would like to see more order in the computer area. But service and research is exceptional and it's really easy to access the databases and catalogue. |

Sedert my studente dae vanaf 1961 was ek 'n gereelde gebruiker van eers die Ferdinand Postma en later die Natuurwetenskappe biblioteek. Aan die talle nagraagdse studente wat ek begelei het sedert my voltydse aanstelling in 1973 is puik diens gelewer. Nooit is enige klagtes ontvang nie. Uitstaande deur al die jare was die vriendelikheid, behulpsaamheid en professionaliteit van die biblioteepersoneel. Ek kan net sé: Doe so voort! |

Die diens van die katalogus is nie baie gebruikersvriendelik sonder direkte ondersteuning nie. Ons is aangesê om een persoon te gebruik. Omdat sy nie my eposse antwoord nie, gebruik ek glad nie meer die dienste van die biblioteek nie op die manier nie. Die M & D navorsingscommins wat om 9 uur sluit is seker die mees belaglikste wat ek al teegekom het. Deeltydse studente kan eers daardie tyd begin werk, en dan is die hulle plek toe. Daarom is my gebruik maandeliks ipv daagliks. OOk het ek vir bronne gevra by die aangewese persoon, en oor hoe om sekere konferensie materiaal te bekom, en het geen respons gekry nie. Die verwysgingsgids ENDNOTE is ook nie so maklik om te gebruik sonder baie aanvanklike ondersteuning nie. Daar is ander beter programme wat die Bib nie ondersteun nie. |

Eerstens: moenie die webwerf onnodiglik herrangskik nie - dit irriteer my grensloos as ek elke nou en dan opnuut vir iets moet soek wat ek net 'n rukkie terug vinnig kon opspoor op die biblioteek webwerf. Tweedens, die biblioteek webwerf is besig om redelik stadig te raak. Onlangs kan ek maklik twee soektogte op Google doen terwyl ek wag vir Scopus om via die biblioteekwebwerf oop te maak. Andersins is ek baie tevrede met die diens van die biblioteek. :) |

Die biblioteek het 'n sosiale samekoms plek geword vir mense om films te download en te kyk, facebook en youtube te gebruik. Hiermee saam is die lawaai so har dat iemand wat regtig wil studeer liewer op 'n ander plek waar ek nie noodwendig die nodige fasiliteite het nie, stile moet gaan soek. Vir my part kan hulle maar veral die biblioteek in die aande sluit!!! Behalwe dat daar net nog nie alkohol is nie, is dit 'n tipiese Musica of kuierplek. As die Universiteit nou nog nooit geld gemors het nie is om hier personeel te plaas en te werk tot 10h. The woman that helps me with Inter-library loans is wonderful. She is efficient, supportive and very skilled in what she does. She works at the small private natural science library. The staff at the main campus library is however NOT very efficient and NOT very helpful. They will often chat to each other and ignore you when you are trying to ask them about something. They do also take a very long time to reply to emails or other inquires. |

The library closes way to early. The book section closes at 8pm between Monday and Thursday and 5pm on a Friday. Simply unacceptable for a university. Also, the scanning fees are too expensive (R2 a page). Some students use the library computers to browse Facebook, Youtube and other social media platforms while there is a limited amount of PCs. Perhaps and active library monitor could fix that problem. It is not always quiet, some students have loud conversations and watch videos loudly without considering that other students are studying. |

There is a need to just reduce (at times) the noise level in the library. It can potentially be bothersome to some of the library users. For the rest, I find the library staff on top of their game. They are most helpful and do go out of their way to be of assistance. I have only experienced some minor problems with ILL that were requested from Potch or from elsewhere. In the first case, I was asked to return a government report to Potch that had been returned well in advance of the expiry date. We scanned the material in. In the latter case, my impression was that librarians do not go the full mile in locating material request on ILL from elsewhere. In this respect, I am specifically referring to articles from journals to which we are not subscribed. For the rest the service I get from the library and its staff is outstanding. |

The library has good security, but some places need cameras because things get lost. The help i am given is extremely good and i can borrow a book to study if i do not have money to buy the book and the time i am given is enough. The security guards are friendly and help wherei need their help. There is a quiet space for me to study and the guards and noise monitors come to check if there is noise or the library is still conducive to study. The conditions in which i study are very good because it is not too cool or hot. I love the services i am given in the library. |

The service i get at the library is just good in general, but the space for studying is just not enough, you will find many students standing and it's not really easy to get one after 08:00 a.m, so you are forced to come to school as early as possible to get space. The noise monitors should really be more, sometimes when it's full its not easy to control the groups who are discussing loudly. The study area is just not enough, it doesn't accommodate everyone. The library just doesn't have enough sockets for other student who uses laptops and tablets. The printing machines are also not enough because we stand on lines for long. The library computer antivirus are outdated and they are working slow, others in times are not working. |

The library offers many services, many that I may not know of, but the information from libraries is irrelevant to student problems. We need access to class tests, semester tests from the library, and not just past papers. We need access to personal tutoring systems from the library. First years should be taught how to effectively use the library during orientation. |

The library is a great source of older books that I need for research. Often newer books are not in the library,though. I do get frustrated with the course reserves option because of the fact that often there is only one copy of that particular book which then cannot be taken out. I find EBSCO Host difficult to use but work through the library on Google Scholar which helps me a great deal. Research support has not helped me with my Masters studies though I have asked for help with access to certain unavailable resources I could really use. The library is not always conducive to quiet study and is usually pretty full except for after exams. |

The Library is nice and clean, it is a very nice environment, except in the computer room where it is a bit stuffy. The books are easy to find because they are logically organised. Before I started using the library, I felt overwhelmed and negative when I had to find sources. But now I feel positive about my assignments because I know I can find all the information I need at the library. Now I always smile when I look at the source list at the end of my assignments because I know I have used trustworthy sources.
