We are pleased to announce the upcoming go-live of the new Library Services payment options within the NWU Cashless Payment Portal. Following successful development, configuration, integration, and business validation, the services will be available to users from Monday, 19 October 2026.

The following Library Services payment categories will be activated:

• Library Binding
• Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Article Requests
• Library Lost or Damaged Material
• Library Fines
• Registration - Prospective M&D
• Registration - Alumni
• Registration - Day Users or Visitors
• Registration Community Member

To ensure a smooth deployment and transition, the project team will perform the final production deployment activities during the weekend preceding the go-live date.

Deployment Window

• Date: Saturday, 17 October 2026 to Sunday, 18 October 2026
• Go-Live Date: Monday, 19 October 2026

No significant service interruptions are anticipated during the deployment period. The deployment consists solely of enabling the approved Library Services payment categories within the existing production Cashless Payment Portal environment.

Users will be able to process payments for the newly activated services from Monday, 19 October 2026. Authorised Library Staff are requested to validate access and report any issues encountered after go-live.

We would like to thank all the Library stakeholders for their support throughout the implementation, testing, and approval processes. We are confident that the addition of these services will enhance efficiency and improve the overall payment experience for library users.

After heavy rainfall in Potchefstroom, Building E7 flooded, affecting several areas of the Ferdinand Postma Library. Relevant stakeholders have been engaged and are addressing the matter.

As a precaution, the following spaces are temporarily closed until further notice:

The wait is finally over!  The much-anticipated Music Library refurbishment is finally getting underway. The library has temporarily closed its doors, and the collections, staff and selected workstations are currently being relocated to the temporary library space in Rooms 119/120, Building K1. The temporary space will be accessible to users from Monday, 7 September 2026.

The proposed new look will include:

• A redesigned access/information desk
• A podcast studio
• A hybrid collaborative room
• Three listening booths
• Workstations
• Enhanced seating spaces
• A refreshed look and feel

During the refurbishment, library staff will remain available to support the users. You can also book in-person and online appointments with the librarian via https://nwu.libcal.com/appointments , and electronic resources remain accessible via https://library.nwu.ac.za/ .

We look forward to seeing this long-awaited transformation come to life and creating an enhanced Music Library experience for our users!
